2.26.12 Blue Grotto – Williston, FL

Hello everyone.
Once again we returned to the Blue Grotto in Williston, FL for some cool cavern and cave experiences. Despite the 48 degree air temp and misty rain, we were all looking forward to diving in the grotto again. We also had a few first-timers along with us, and it was great to see their faces while trying something new. There were lots of students from local dive shops there that day, so the cavern was kind of murky, but the cave portion was all ours that day. We spent a lot of time in the cave portion, looking at fossils in the limestone and exploring a bit. My two dive buddies also “played” a game of underwater UNO on the training platform!

2.25.12 Manatees of Crystal River

Hello everyone.
For the 3rd year in a row we return to Crystal River to snorkel with the manatees. This was yet another group trip sponsored by SCUBA NETWORK® of Deerfield Beach. There were a total of 8 of us as we headed out into King’s Bay on our way to Three Sisters Springs to view the manatees up close and personal. We encountered many manatees in the river and a few in the springs themselves. Lots of mother and baby encounters, this year too.

“Sharks Count” Dive Trip – 2.4.12

Hello everyone.
Saturday, February 4th finds the Video Dude heading out on Narcosis Dive Charters to look for and document Lemon Shark populations in Riviera Beach, FL. Along with a group of people booked through FORCE-E Dive Center and Nikole Ordway of Shark Savers, we head out into somewhat “sporty” seas to our dive sites: Shark Canyon and Juno Ledge. No Lemon Sharks today, but lots of Reef Sharks, a few Nurse Sharks, a couple of Goliath Groupers and two Hawksbill Turtles.
