9.1.08 - "Grouper Bend" Reef and "Lighthouse Ledge"
Hello everyone.
Labor Day Monday finds the Video Dude and Scuba Goddess Terri braving the high seas once again aboard Parrot Island Scuba's Fathoms O' Fun for a couple of leisurely drift dives. Joining us again are "Dive Diva" Heather and Charlie "Tuna". It's a beautiful day weather-wise despite the 4-5ft seas. We have Captain Jerry at the wheel today and Divemaster Dale on deck.
Captain Jerry gets us out to our first dive site - "Grouper Bend Reef" - in record time despite the seas, and we get geared up and ready to jump in. We're gonna try our hand at "buggin'" again, so we've all got our lobster gear as well. On Dale's signal we jump in and head for the reef. Not much lobster on this reef, but I DID see 2 Spotted Morays, 2 Green Morays, and a HUGE Burrfish (I estimated about 4 ft long). Scuba Goddess Terri (aka "The Lobster Slayer") did manage to get 1 Lobster though - she ended up sticking her hand and arm in the hole and pulling the stubborn bug out! Things were kind of uneventful after that for the rest of the dive and we all did our safety stops and got back on the boat.
Dive #2 finds us on the ever-popular "Lighthouse Ledge" Reef and on the signal from Dale, we all jump in again. The "bugs" are even more scarce on this reef, but we got to tour a very pretty reef with bountiful fish life and had a great relaxing time while diving. Lots of Grunts, Blue Angelfish, Squirrelfish, Snappers, Banded Shrimp and more. All too soon it's time for safety stops and ascending to the boat. Didn't want to cause it was soooo relaxing!
That's about it for this posting. See you all on a boat sometime soon!
Having Fun in Paradise,
The Video Dude
