6.19.08 - Night Dive on the "Captain Dan"

Hello everyone.

The Video Dude has been going like gang-busters lately so once again apologies for delays in postings. The night of June 19th finds me and Dive Diva Heather along with Charlie (Tuna) and Kimmie and Bob McKinney aboard Parrot Island Scuba's "Fathoms O' Fun" heading out for a night dive on the "Captain Dan".

It was a beautiful night with just a hint of a threat of rain as Captain Mikey takes us out to the site. Upon arriving, Divemaster Dale jumps in and ties off our descent line and we get ready to jump in. Since it's not yet completely dark, there was a twilight feel to the wreck as we swam around checking everything out. There was very little current this time, but also very few critters out and about. We managed to check out a couple of barracuda and several brittle starfish wrapped around some tube sponges.

Unknown to us at the time, conditions on the surface worsened due to an approaching storm front. Everyone made it back aboard before the rain, wind and waves got to us and, after continuing for several minutes, Captain Mikey calls off the second dive and we head back to the dock.

Oh well, that's diving in Paradise in the summertime!
